Dalkey Castle

Ms. Farrell's class accompanied by Ms. Lynch's class went to Dalkey castle. We watched a video about the history of Dalkey. We explored the grounds and had great fun listening to the peasants and the soldiers. We meet the King of Dalkey and explored the battlements of his castle. We made silver coins, pretended to throw rocks down into the murdering chamber, visited the castle dentist and helped to make a feast. All in all it was a fantastic trip full of interaction and activities.

Road Safety

As part of the Road Safety initiative in our school, members of the road safety authority came in to teach us about safety on the roads around our neighborhood.
We dressed up in illuminated jackets that depicted our role in the town - doctor, policeman, postman, student and so forth.
When we completed the training we got our walking licences with our photograph printed on them.

In an effort to promote the study of Science with girls, 6th class girls went on a trip to UCD. We departed by bus to UCD where we were met by Liz Griffin. She took us on a tour of the campus that is home to 35,000 students. We visited the gym, swimming pool, students union, arts building, library and even visited a lecture hall. Following this we did an experiment in a science lab. We had lovely lunch in the cafe and went home after 1pm. It was truly a fantastic day and the girls were so well behaved.

Wonder

WONDER!!!!
Throughout October and November we learned about the story of August Pullman a young boy who after 32 operations and almost 12 years of home schooling finally braved the trials and tribulations of school life. We followed his and his families journey, his friends in Beecher Prep School, his sister Via and her best friend Miranda and even his dog Daisy.
We took the Luas to Dundrum and had our own private viewing of Wonder in the VIP cinema. The students were so well behaved and a credit to the school and themselves. We cannot wait for our next trip.
